Having celebrated my 50th Birthday earlier this year (I know those of you who know me will be astounded to learn that I am so old), one of my many lovely gifts was a day out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed held over the weekend of 27th & 28th June.
As always, anything to do with Goodwood is to be relished and enjoyed and this year’s Festival of Speed was no exception! Lord March and his team put on only the finest events and have managed to combine business and pleasure with the FOS Event now.
Seemingly replacing the old style exhibition type Motor Shows, the FOS includes its own displays by all of the main motor manufacturers. There is opportunity to see and even drive all of the latest models including motor cycles as well! What’s not to like!
Imagine my surprise this year to see Bentley not only displaying all of its new products – very nice they looked too, but also taking a separate stand to offer used cars for sale under their Bentley Pre-Owned Programme! Perhaps this illustrates the seriousness of manufacturer approaches to used cars now; I can’t imagine a stand the size of the one they have for their used car display was cheap and therefore demonstrates their commitment to the Bentley Approved Programme.
Clearly the event was likely to attract a volume of their likely buyers with very deep pockets (unlike me I hasten to add) and therefore you could surmise this was shrewd thinking on their part, but refreshing to see a manufacturer presenting its used product so blatantly at such a high-profile event.
I am looking forward to next year’s event already.
